Ten Things My Dog Has Taught Me by Melissa Marcy
I could learn almost everything I need to know about life from my dog and I am thankful of her constant reminders about what truly matters when I forget. Here are my top ten things that dogs teach us about what is really important in life.
1. The most important thing to do in life is playâ something we often forget how to do as we get older and Iâm glad she is there to show me how.
2. Love everyone unconditionally and let them know how much they mean to you. When people you love come to visit, greet them with a big sloppy kiss every time you see them.
3. Donât take yourself too seriouslyâ itâs just not possible when Iâm on the phone with a client and sheâs squeaking away with her favorite toy. Hopefully my clients donât take me too seriously either.
4. There is no need to judge yourself or others, nor worry about what others think. The people in your life who truly love you will love you forever and the rest just donât matter.
5. Donât worry about tomorrow or dwell on yesterdayâ that wastes time and energy that you could spend playing.
6. Long walks are good for youâ and walking around in public carrying bags of dog poop is even better for your ego.
7. Be happy, always.
8. You are perfectly loveable just the way you are. My dog especially loves me when I have foodâ but she would love me even if I had nothing.
9. When someone you love is sad, give them a big kiss to make them feel better and then nudge them with your nose to snap out of itâ after all there are more important things to do than be sadâ like play!
10. The only things that matter in life are love, food and happiness.
