How can I get my puppy to quit whining when I leave the room or at night?
I leave the room and my little boy starts whining and at night we put him in a portable kennel with a teddy bear and an article of my clothing and he whines and even barks. What can I do to comfort him more at night besides putting him in bed with me, and I can’t leave him out to roam because he is chewing everything and anything.
Don’t comfort him.. ignore him. The fact that you are going back and worried about him whining and barking… just reinforces in his mind that he is doing the right thing. He is not doing it cause he is lonely or upset, he is doing it to get your attention. He is getting exactly what he wants when you go back to give him more comfort. Ignore him.. he’ll stop.
